How to remove a virus from your Laptop or computer

Find us on Facebook.jpg

Sometimes it's not easy removing a virus or viruses....but certainly the first thing you want to do is restore your system back to a time when you know the virus did not exist on your machine, then run a full Antivirus scan with your installed Antivirus program. If you don't have one or the subscription has expired, our recommended Antivirus program at the bottom of the page.

The basics that you should do first to remove a virus:

Start your Pc / Laptop and keep depressing the F8 key until you come to a screen that gives you various starting options. The first option should be "Safe mode", if it isnt, arrow down to it and press enter. If your Pc / Laptop wont start in safe mode, its not good news. Normally it will however. When you have started in safe mode, the icons will appear larger than normal and you will lose some functionality of the machine. Dont worry this is normal. You must then try and restore your Pc / Laptop to a time that you think it was virus free or worked correctly. If in doubt take it back as far as you can.

To restore your system, follow the instructions here:

For Windows XP
For Windows Vista
For Windows 7

Now run a full scan. Many Viruses will be removed this way but not all. If all else fails, try Bullguard Internet security below and enjoy a trial period for free.
